- Sally Shapiro, Legowelt and others guest on the Swedish artist's next album.
Paper Bag Records will release Johan Agebjörn's third album next month, entitled Casablanca Nights.
The Swedish producer has been busy indeed. In February, he released an ambient album, The Mountain Lake under his own name. Now he's teamed up with a raft of vocalists, including the enigmatic Sally Shapiro, who's allegedly too shy to appear in public or promote her own work. The album's production was a highly collaborative affair, with vocals and music recorded in such varied places as London, Montreal, Pittsburgh, Milan and, of course, Sweden. Aside from Shapiro, guest appearances come from Legowelt, CFCF and Steve Moore. Moving on from Italo, Casablanca Nights pursues a poppier sound (as evidenced by pop collaborators Lake Heartbeat), but still retains a disco tinge. The title wasn't chosen arbitrarily, either. Miles away from chilly Sweden, the album's mood emulates the feel of nightlife in tropical climates.
