RA turns 10, unveils the X parties

- Resident Advisor is turning 10 this year, and to celebrate the occasion we've cooked up something rather epic: a series of ten parties in ten cities around the world, each with a secret headliner. We take it the ten parties in ten cities thing is pretty easy to understand, so here's the deal with the secret headliners: each event will feature one carefully selected artist who we think has positively influenced the electronic music landscape over the past decade. Their identities will remain strictly under wraps until they take the stage. Up to that point, each one will be known simply as the X (see what we did there?). Each X curates his or her own party with RA, so the rest of the lineup might provide a hint as to who's waiting in the wings. Take, for instance, the series launch party at Cable in London: who would choose a supporting cast of Lawrence, Onur Ozer, Kyle Hall, Trevor Jackson, Ben UFO and the techno artist known as 19.454.18.5.25.5.18? You'll just have to join us on the night to find out. The second party will take place during Sonar at BeCool in Barcelona, with Soul Clap, Mark E, Prins Thomas and the X. The rest of the lineups will be announced in due time, but for now we can tell you the other parties will be happening at D-Edge in Sao Paulo, Arma 17 in Moscow, Civic in Sydney, Brancaleone in Rome, Eleven in Tokyo, Berghain / Panorama Bar in Berlin and Trouw in Amsterdam. There's a visual side to the celebration too. We've enlisted ten different designers to create limited edition hand silk-screened posters for each event, which will be sold in limited runs (75 each) on RA. Without giving too much away, the artists involved have done record sleeves for Aphex Twin, Martyn, Ghostly International and Shackleton. So there you have it: Ten parties to celebrate ten years online, with you, our readers that have made this whole thing possible. After all, if it weren't for you, we might still be a progressive house fan site with the occasional movie review.
