  • UK act Caribou is scheduled to play twice in Berlin on Wednesday, June 1st. After releasing Swim, RA's #1 album of 2010, and embarking on a gruelling around-the-world tour, you'd think Dan Snaith, AKA Caribou, might take it a bit easier this year. In fact, he seems as busy as ever. Snaith has begun to appear more behind the decks during 2011, as evidenced by his podcast for us earlier this year, while the live performances, such as the one at Berlin's Astra next month, have also continued at a pace. Snaith will be joined at Astra by another couple of acts who enjoyed stand-out years in 2010: Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never. Both released widely praised albums for Editions Mego—Does It Look Like I'm Here? and Returnal respectively—and will provide a more experimental counterpoint to the clubbier indie sound of Caribou. Later that night, Snaith will shed his Caribou moniker for a DJ set at Panorama Bar, which will be open for a rare Wednesday night party thanks to Ascension Day (which means Thursday off). The rest of the bill for that one includes Dinky, Dixon and DJ Koze, while Ryan Elliott, Âme and many others spin for free in the garden all day.
