This July, Dust Science Recordings will release the second album Dadavistic Orchestra, entitled Dokument .02.

Dadavistic Orchestra combines members from two veteran electronic groups: Sheffield's The Black Dog, and Psychick Warriors of Gaia, a Dutch collective that were active from the late '80s through the beginning of the '00s. Both have been known to get pretty out there on their own (see The Black Dog's Music for Airports), but take it a step further with Dadavistic Orchestra, a project that takes its name from the abstract art movement that blossomed in reaction to World War I and laid the groundwork for everything from surrealism to punk rock. The outfit's first release was a two-track exercise in ambient drones, and though Dokument .02 looks a bit more like a regular album, it too has an experimental framework: none of the tracks have beats, and all clock in somewhere past the ten-minute mark.

Tracklist
01. Deep Old Mu
02. Petrichore
03. Teh Meh, Teh Meh
04. Unconcerned, But Not Indifferent
05. De Kunst: Star Dot Star
06. De Neerstorting van de Meningvan de Kathderaal

Dust Science will release Dokument .02 on July 11th, 2011.

Thu, 21 Jul 2011This is wonderful on so many levels. About damn time someone tapped Dadaism for its potential musical influences (especially in the era of the war on terror and multiple international wars). Okay fine its not the total war of World War I that spawned Dadaism, but its still pretty awful stuff. I'd love to read a reasoned treatise or perhaps a brief description from the group about their influences on this. Better get my ass over to the Dust Science and Black Dog homepages!
