Cult electro outfit Dopplereffekt will perform a rare solo show in London tonight.
Although the output and influence of of Dopplerekt is widely celebrated, the actual makeup of the group remains something of a mystery. The only real certainty is the involvement of founder Gerald Donald, who was also responsible for seminal Detroit duo Drexciya, alongside the late James Stinson. Although Dopplereffekt is reputedly a four-person project, their small number of previous shows have featured a besuited and masked Donald, who prefers to go under the pseudonym Heinrich Müller, and a similarly attired female companion. Whatever the configuration, tomorrow night's performance will feature plenty of slow-build intensity, with the music of Donald/Müller and co accompanied by stark Soviet era imagery.
