  • Sydney's Spank! Records is set to shut its doors. For nine years, Spank! has been Sydney's main supplier of house and disco vinyl. Founded and helmed by Chris Lo and Leanne Clegg, the shop serviced a hefty portion of Sydney's electronic music community on a regular basis, be it through its distinct and eclectic record collection or substantial hardware and software departments. In addition to their shopfront activities, Spank! had been hosting production competitions on an annual basis, most recently alongside fellow Sydneysiders Future Classic. Spank!'s final day of trading will take place on Saturday June 11th. Until then, the majority of the Bourke St, Darlinghurt shop's merchandise will be for sale at cost price. In a statement issued by Lo and Clegg earlier this week, the specific reasons for Spank!'s closure were not disclosed, on than that the pair are "ready to move on to something new" and "this is the right time to do it."
