Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Krause Duo head a list of names playing the infamous south Berlin site in August.
Berliner Luft & Liebe Festival 2011 will take place across the weekend of Friday 5th August.
The story surrounding Berlin's Spreepark is both complex and intriguing in equal measure. The park has been officially closed since 2001, although even with its gates shut has courted massive amounts of controversy. The most recent example of this was Luna Land festival which during summer 2010 provoked an internet flame war between its organisers Minimoo and local institution Bar25. While hardly a roaring success, the event did go off without any major hitches, in theory paving the way for next month's Luft & Liebe Festival. (We'd strongly advise you read over our Showdown in Spreepark piece from last November for a detailed look at the history and politics behind the site.)
Luft & Liebe took over Ostbahnhof venue Yaam for a three day event last year, and beginning Friday 5th August will set up at Spreepark for a total of two days and three nights. Details of who plays which day are yet to be confirmed, but what's clear is that the line-up comprises a vast contingent of local DJing talent. Upwards of sixty names have so far been billed, which includes names like Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Krause Duo, Monkey Maffia, Audio Werner and Soundstream.
