Version 6 of Cycling '74's Max will be available as of Q4 2011.
"For a lot of people who would love Max, obtaining and learning the software is too much of a challenge, and we're committed to changing that," says Cycling '74 CEO, David Zicarelli. "Max 6 is the next step in our ongoing effort to increase the accessibility of our software." Part of what that means is a reduced price point ($399), while those purchasing Max/MSP 5 and Max/MSP/Jitter 5 from now until version 6 drops in Q4 2011 will receive a free upgrade upon release. In terms of exact updates, details are a little thin on the ground, but higher quality audio, GUI improvements, organization tools for projects and extended multi-processor support have been promised.
