Blue Daisy, AKA Kwesi Darko, will release his debut artist album, The Sunday Gift, through Black Acre in October.

Darko has been pushing a dubby and distorted blend of hip-hop, house and bass music for a little over two years. He's spent that time aligned with Bristol's Black Acre, an imprint that has played host to each of the producer's releases to date. Sound-wise, the new LP doesn't stray too far from the emotive sample-based compositions Darko's been pushing from his London base since he made his production debut, and features vocals across several tracks. Unlike some of his previous house-inspired work, however, the album steers clear of the 4/4 time signature, save for one track.

Tracklist
01. Distance
02. Firewall
03. Fallin Prelude
04. Fallin
05. Descend
06. Shadow Assassins
07. Psyche Inquiry
08. Raindance
09. Interlude
10. Only for You
11. Spinning Channels
12. The End

Black Acre will release The Sunday Gift on October 3rd, 2011.

Wed, 19 Oct 2011This is top 3 in my book for 2011 so far. This picks up the torch from Massive Attack and runs with it.
Im not sure how the reviewer came up with 3.5/5 - tough grader, Id like to hear some of his 4.5 reviews

Sat, 15 Oct 2011Never heard of this artist till this album, this sounds excellent. Truly Interesting concoctions...and a serious talent for sure.

Agreed @ Rezerkted23. I imagine its difficult to make something experimental like this, yet have song structure to it, and a strong musical feel. So you have this heavy experimental side, yet its balanced by this welcoming musical touch. Great production values, eclectic range, and sound design....songs.

4.5/5 +new fan

Fri, 14 Oct 20113.5? This is a serious contender for album of the year! I absolutely love how 90's it sounds. I guess when you get to be a certain age, you start to long for the sounds that you grew up on. I love new music, but for me, electronic music was in it's prime in the 90's. Underworld, Chemical Brothers, Tricky, Massive Attack, Fat Boy Slim, 90's house and techno, jungle, early Warp stuff... Hip-hop was at it's best, and rock would never be as good again.

To me, this album symbolizes all of that.... More
