  • Come Hell Or High Water is the second full-length effort from Christopher Ernst as Penalune. For the first six years of its existence the experimental techno label Something was used primarily as a production outlet for its owner, Stephan Laubner, under his STL and Lunatik Sound System monikers. Last year however the German imprint put out Ernst's debut album, Less Of The Same—a concept record compiled from field recordings gathered from Brooklyn and New York, fused with instrumentation and vocals. According to Ernst, Come Hell Or High Water is meant to capture the "similar feelings of desperation of prisoners throughout various civilizations.... Starting off long ago, the album wraps up with a Spanish civil war prisoner, Salem witch trial accused woman, and finally the aural interpretation of a modern-day Muslim locked in Guantanamo."
