- 50 Weapons will release the low-key techno/bass hybrid's first album next month.
Anstam will release their debut album, Dispel Dances, at the end of October on 50 Weapons.
Details on Anstam are few and far between, though a press release tells us they "used to be a duo of two brothers from Germany." The name first surfaced in 2007 with a pair of self-released 12-inches, Aeto and Brom. After one more record in 2009, Anstam fell off the radar for a couple of years, only to return this past spring through 50 Weapons—the Berlin label run by Modeselektor—with a split release followed by a full EP. On all of these records, Anstam deliver a dark and dirty sound that's equal parts jungle, dubstep and techno. Dispel Dances continues in this vein, with ten previously unreleased productions. It will be available as an LP as well as digitally and on CD. You can hear a medley of the album on Anstam's official website.
