- The follow up to Chicago footwork's defining compilation will come out early next month.
Planet Mu will release the second Bangs & Works compilation at the beginning of November.
Last year, when Planet Mu started releasing records by DJ Nate and his cohorts, the fast-paced, lo-fi style called footwork (or juke) was scarcely known outside of its home in Chicago. Since then it's had a considerable impact on the electronic music landscape, most notably among bass artists, but also among some techno producers (namely Andy Stott, who donned his alter ego Andre for an EP called Retail Juke). Bangs & Works Vol.1 was footwork's first official collection, and further boosted the genre's fame. Vol.2 features names that appeared on that release (DJ Rashad, DJ Clent, RP Boo, Traxman) alongside a batch of new artists, such as Young Smoke, DJ MC and DJ Rome. The collection will be available as a triple-vinyl pack as well as digitally and on CD.
