The Paris-based artist has recorded another album composed entirely of samples from Chinese and Vietnamese music.

French producer Arnaud Bernard, better known as Onra, is set to release his next full-length, Chinoseries Pt 2.

The LP is a follow up to Bernard's 2007 Chinoseries, a concept album that was crafted entirely from sampling Chinese and Vietnamese records. The new album sees the artist return to the same formula across 32 tracks. As can be expected, the result is a sound quite removed from the synth-heavy future disco and funk the Parisian primarily pushes, especially when compared to last year's well-received Long Distance. The upcoming album is set to drop on Ireland's All City Records.

Wed, 06 Jun 2012Ah WOW ! Very nice music if you ask me.

I love tracks like Open the Door.
The Chinese samples, the sometimes very raw hip hop beat.
Yes this is very good.

Thu, 22 Dec 2011Pretty sick album, reminds me how great proper hip-hop is! I wish him some deserved success

Wed, 21 Dec 2011I found this review rather weird since it's pretty dismissive of the first one which I think was better... It had a faster beat tape flow, the tracks blended in each other and was a non-stop ride. This feels a little too much like beat-pause-beat-pause, producers lately have been getting lazier at making it a complete album experience. Well it's still pretty good, Onra got some of the best drums out there.

Fri, 16 Dec 2011The Dilla is strong in this one.... As much as I loved Long Distance, I think this one is more interesting from a conceptual point than in actual execution.

It makes you wonder though what hip hop could sound like if producers started sampling the vast untapped libraries of foreign music.
