The two Detroit DJs will share the decks at Public Works next month.
Detroit techno pioneers Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson play a set as Hi Tek Soul in San Francisco on Saturday, November 12th.
Along with their childhood friend Juan Atkins, May and Saunderson are members of the Belleville Three, a trio of artists widely considered to be the originators of Detroit techno. Both are prolific producers—especially Saunderson, who's also known for his acclaimed Inner City project—and each has well over two decades of experience behind the decks. Recently they've been playing together under the name Hi Tek Soul, utilizing an expansive setup that includes DJ gear (four turntables and four CD decks) and live hardware. For this San Francisco appearance, they're scheduled to play at least three hours. Support comes from local DJs Rooz, Kevin Knapp and Nick Williams.
