Drum & bass label Hospital Records are set to release a compilation celebrating 15 years of operation.

Based in South London, Hospital is one of the most long-standing and prominent imprints in drum & bass. Founded by producer Tony Colman (AKA London Elektricity) and Chris Goss, the label has played host to over 200 releases, many of which come from artists—High Contrast and Danny Byrd, for example—who have been on the roster for a decade or more. The forthcoming compilation features one mixed and one unmixed disc. The former packs in 15 previously unreleased tracks by as many different artists. The second presents a "History of Hospital," selected and mixed by Cyantific.

Tue, 20 Nov 2012In my humble opinion i thought this was a good album/compilation. Yes its patchy in parts but thats far out weighed by the quality of the output within this. If they want to take the label in a more mainstream direction I’m sure that would be respected and good luck to them, but decent release never the less.

Sat, 24 Mar 2012Glad im not the only that shares the opinions being expressed here. It's just far too cheeseball these days.. I'll take this opp to plug another label that goes against that grain.. Plush Recs

Sat, 03 Dec 2011There are two things about Hospital: first, what jonnyh179 said, that it was the best from 2000 to 2005 (the second London Elektricity album, first and second albums of High Contrast, first album of Nu:Tone...) and then the quality of their own acts were downhill, or maybe the previous releases were too good. That's what I missed the most about this compilation: more tracks from the 'golden' years. Now they are still interesting, but as it happens with this compilation, very irregular in a... More

Fri, 02 Dec 2011Your comment reminded me of one of their greatest songs in my opinion - London Elektricity's 'Fast Soul Music'
Still sounds good

Fri, 02 Dec 2011I think Jonnyh179 hits the nail on the head.... A once great label that has struggled with the transition from underground to mainstream. Quality control is lacking these days. some good but far too much bad.

But to say it's a label for people who aren't bass heads (Navalverde) is ridiculous. The Hospitality parties at Herbal used to be immense and everyone that used to go were proper bass heads.

Ohh how I miss Herbal - the London scene has been lacking a club as good as it was in it's... More

Fri, 02 Dec 2011Never been a huge fan of Hospital's output, the type of breaks most of their artists use are a bit too simplistic and cheesy. High Contrast & Logistics have always been way overrated imo. Hospital is the equivalent of d&b's pop label for people who aren't bass heads. The 00's saw the over saturation of the dnb marketplace with flavor of the week tunes lacking any substance & Hospital records was at the vanguard of that movement.
