- Planet Mu will release the American ex-rocker's first solo album in February.
Daniel Martin-McCormick will release his first album as Ital, Hive Mind, in February on Planet Mu.
Ital comes from a very different background from most electronic producers, having cut his teeth in Washington DC's indie scene with Black Eyes, an artsy hardcore band that earned a cult following from its two albums on Dischord, the influential local label run by Ian McKaye and Jeff Nelson of Minor Threat. After the group broke up he became more and more focused on electronic music, but at the same time retained a bit of post-hardcore flair with the bands Mi Ami and Sex Worker, and finally on his own as Ital, a project that debuted this year on the playfully avant-garde Not Not Fun and its sub-label, 100% Silk. Hive Mind shows him continuing on this tack, toying with house and disco tropes while staying firmly in left-field.
