The Montreal series will host Pearson Sound, Tiefschwarz, Marcel Dettmann and many more over three weekends in January.
Igloofest have outlined the program for their 2012 events, taking over three weekends from January 12th through the 28th.
By many people's standards, deep winter in Montreal is not a comfortable time. The city goes dark around 4:00 PM, massive snowbanks form at every curb, and cruel temperatures force everyone to scuttle from one heated space to another. Nonetheless, for the past five years Igloofest has lured tens of thousands of Quebecois to dance out by the waterfront with three weekends of open-air parties, complete with illuminated igloos and a one-piece snowsuit competition.
Each night of the series will feature two stages and, in most cases, a fairly diverse cast of DJs and live acts. Dubstep pioneer Mala shares the bill on the opening night with A-Trak, the Canadian turntablist. The following weekend, attendees can hear steely techno from Terence Fixmer or house and electro from local hero Tiga. Other highlights include Pearson Sound, Maya Jane Coles, Tiefschwarz, Green Velvet and Buraka Som Sistema.
RA's getting in on the action too, with a closing party featuring Berlin techno heavyweights Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann.
