Mr Scruff and DJ Spinna mix Southport Weekender Vol. 9


Each DJ helms a disc on the UK festival's next compilation.

Mr Scruff and DJ Spinna have mixed Southport Weekender Vol.9, available on iTunes later this month and due for wide release in February.

The compilation series is a companion to the annual Southport Weekender party at Butlins Holiday Resort in Minehead, UK, the 2012 edition of which sold out some six months ahead of the event. Mr Scruff and DJ Spinna are natural choices for the mix: they've played the festival numerous times before, and Mr Scruff curated the 2009 installment of the series with Jazzanova. Both DJs are known for their genre-hopping abilities, but Southport Weekender Vol. 9 shows them going heavy on the house, especially soulful artists like Peven Everett, Rick Wilhite and Cajmere. As usual, each artist helms one of the compilation's two discs.
