  • An independent record labels market will take place in London's Spitalfields this Saturday, 10th December. It's been a tough year for a large number of independent labels in the UK—chiefly because of the massive Sony distribution centre fire back in August which wiped out hundreds of labels' stock. Many of those affected by the blaze will come together in east London this coming Saturday, setting up stalls and in some cases showcasing their artists. Those confirmed so far include The Invisible, Roots Manuva, These New Puritans, DJ Food, Fink, The Go! Team, Peaking Lights and Pete And The Pirates. The list of labels involved, meanwhile, is voluminous—Brownswood Recordings, Ninja Tune, Fabric, Rekids, Rough Trade, Sunday Best and Southern Fried are among those setting up shop. The event will also apparently represent one of the first Saturday markets held in more than one hundred years at Spitalfields.
