  • New York no wave outfit ESG will play one of their final concerts at No Way Back in San Francisco on Saturday, March 3rd. Relatively unknown when they first appeared in the late '70s, ESG's sound—mostly percussion, bass guitar, sassy vocals and reverb—has been cited as an influence (and heavily sampled) by countless hip-hop and electronic artists. Three sisters from the South Bronx make up the core of the group, and though they've retired and reformed a few times over the past 30 years, their upcoming tour is billed as their last. The show at Mezzanine is the only West Coast stop on the tour, details of which are still slim. Junior of Sarcastic Disco and No Way Back residents Conor and Solar will provide DJ support.
