Renaissance have announced plans for their first round of 20th anniversary parties, taking place in Birmingham and Leeds on 8th April.

The parties come two decades after Renaissance changed the UK's clubbing landscape with its iconic parties and mix compilations, and just a year after the label briefly went into administration. The headliner for both events will be Sasha, the outfit's main posterboy since its early days. One will take place at Vox in Leeds, the other at Gibb Street Warehouse in Birmingham, the city Renaissance describes as its "new permanent home in the Midlands." Times for each event have not yet been revealed, nor have names of supporting acts. The night will make up the first of two installments of 20th anniversary celebrations—details for the second one are still forthcoming.

Tickets to both parties are available here on RA.

Wed, 11 Apr 2012We had a great time at this event, spent the whole night dancing by the speaker in room 1 - the sound was fantastic there, they just need to sort the acoustics for the rest of the room judging from other comments I have seen.

Before we got there I was most excited about room 2, but went in at the start of the night and thought the sound was terrible so did not return - a pity, as I love a bit of old skool prog and was really looking forward to it.

Sasha was awesome and did not disappoint,... More

Tue, 10 Apr 2012Overall good night! Really enjoyed it, nice system (still room for a bit of engineering though), nice venue, and good music. Gerber and Sasha were mint, Jozif was badly programmed at that time, ruined the vibe! Pappa had a good thing going on in backroom but heard there were problems with monitors/jumping decks and was closed earlier than advertised! It is unforgivable to run out of beer/water though and gangs of pikey roid heads should not be let in any venue! Ill def be back though, the... More

Tue, 10 Apr 2012I ended up not being able to go (thanks, ear infection): how was it? Would love to know what the venue's like, how the crowd was etc, as from where I am Brum's at least as easy as any of the central London venues.
