  • Blank Artists, a Detroit label run by Josh Dahlberg, will mark its seventh anniversary with a pay-what-you-want digital compilation, Money Matters, So This Is Free. The label was founded in central Michigan in 2005, but it's spent most of its life in Detroit, where Dahlberg and a tightly knit group of artists have built an aesthetic based on moody house and electro with plenty of pop experimentation. Money Matters is the label's 25th release, and features all previously unreleased material. Blank Artists veterans like Jared Wilson, Josh Cummings and Agents of Woe make contributions, but a few newcomers make the cut as well, like local acts The Valley & The Mountain and Bones, who has previously collaborated with Kyle Hall. Pipé Scuttleworth And The Champions, a project from BA regular Scuttleworth (otherwise known as half of The Siege), winds down the compilation with a twelve-minute journey through drones and guitars, appropriately titled "Riding The Clouds Again." The compilation officially comes out next Tuesday, but attendees at this Saturday's anniversary event in Detroit will get early access to the download link.
