  • This year's Øya Festival will take place in Oslo's Middelalderparken between August 7th and 11th. The festival is well known for its diverse programming, which in 2011 included artists such as Aphex Twin, pop-crossover musician Janelle Monáe and indie-folk group Fleet Foxes. The 2012 bill is equally varied, with the festival's foremost electronic performance coming from Nicolas Jaar, who will play live with his band. The rest of the bill features international artists like Björk, American rapper A$AP Rocky and Manchester's Stone Roses, who announced they were reforming in 2011. The long list of Norwegian acts is topped by hardcore punk band The Good, The Bad and The Zugly and folk duo Sudan Dudan. The festival has been operating out of Middelalderparken for around a decade. Literally translated to 'Medieval Park,' the grounds were inhabited as far back as the 1300s and today support four main stages and around 80,000 attendees for Øya.
