LA's Friends of Friends will release the Whomadewho member's first solo album in May.
Danish producer Tomas Barfod will release his debut solo album, Salton Sea, on Friends of Friends in May.
Barfod has been a drummer for Kompakt's Whomadewho and part of Filur with fellow Dane Kasper Bjørke in the past, and also operates solo under the name TomBoy. Salton Sea—named for a saltwater lake on California's San Andreas Fault—marks an overt move towards house for the Friends of Friends, an LA-based label previously associated with instrumental hip-hop by artists like Salva and Shlohmo. The album features vocal turns from Sweden's Nina Kinert, New York's Lydia Ainsworth and WhoMadeWho's Jeppe Kjellberg.
Salton Sea will be preceded by a single for Broken Glass in March, featuring remixes by Shlohmo and Dusseldorf's Jacob Korn.
