  • The first Cape Town Electronic Music Festival will take place at V & A Waterfront from March 30th through April 1st. The festival's goal is to highlight the strength of South Africa's electronic music scene, so naturally the bill puts a heavy emphasis on local artists. High on the list is electro-dub composer Kalahari Surfer, AKA Warrick Sony, who is known as much for his anti-Apartheid activism as his music experimentation. Local drum & bass icon Niskerone will play too, just before relaunching his long-running weekly residency at Fiction club in Cape Town. Also confirmed is house producer Blackcoffee, who along with Amaru Da Costa and Culoe De Song runs the Johannesburg label Soulistic Music. Maphumulo and Da Costa will be speaking as part of CTEMF's lecture component. Fringe events are also set to happen from Tuesday March 27th, but details for those are yet to be announced.
