  • React Presents have revealed the first names for their inaugural Spring Awakening Music Festival, set to take place in Chicago on June 16th and 17th. Billed as "the first all dance music festival to ever hit Chicago," the event has made big room bass and electro house the order for the weekend. Stateside sensation Skrillex sits atop the bill next to Dutch DJ Afrojack, and Moby will bring his pop-inflected sounds to town with a DJ set. Wide-ranging veterans A-Trak and Laidback Luke are also confirmed along with trance artists Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten. Chicago's house scene gets a nod with appearances from Green Velvet and Derrick Carter, and other highlights include Claude VonStroke, Diplo, and Flux Pavilion. The festival has roots in the Spring Awakening events that have sold out the Congress Theater (one of Chicago's biggest venues) two years in a row. This year's setting will be the Stadium Green at the south end of Soldier Field, which overlooks Lake Michigan on the city's Near South Side. Lineup additions and afterparty details will be announced in the coming months.
