Cut Mistake Music will make its debut with a vinyl EP featuring label founder cnnr and No Regular Play.
Based in New York, Cut Mistake Music looks like it will blend dancefloor sensibilities with moody ambiance, if the first record CMM0001 is any indication. The A-side track, "Candide," is a fifteen minute-long soundscape from cnnr (real name Connor Whiriskey), dedicated to the late Danielle Baquet-Long of the husband-and-wife experimental duo Celer. On the flip are two tracks from No Regular Play, AKA Nicholas DeBruyn and Greg Paulus, who've been making waves for the past few years as part of Brooklyn's Wolf + Lamb crew. "Rain (All Day)" and "Avenue" are not new material ("Rain" has long been a fixture in the pair's live set, and was recently re-written for orchestral performance by Paulus and his father), but this is the first time both will be officially released.
Next up for the label is an EP from Jordan Lieb, who's recently been at work on Francis Harris's Scissor & Thread imprint. Keeping things eclectic, Cut Mistake Music promises future releases from "classically trained cellists and violists, theater and film sound designers and producers."
