  • James Holden's Border Community imprint will showcase in Melbourne and Sydney with Fairmont, Luke Abbott and Avus on March 23rd and 24th respectively. Established in 2003, over nearly a decade the label has forged a reputation in the electronic community as an outlet for innovative artists who blur the line between dancefloor-centric club music and more experimental styles. Canadian producer Fairmont's output on Border Community, including his most recent release Velora in May of last year, spans techno, pop, ambient and Italo, and illustrates the label's broad approach to electronic music. Similarly, UK artist Luke Abbott, formerly of Trevor Jackson's Output Recordings, ties together trance, disco and krautrock on his latest single Brazil, while Avus' Poppy EP touches on lo-fi synthwave, left-field techno and pop. This will be Border Community's debut showcase in Australia. The first show, in Melbourne on March 23rd, will be presented by Electric Owl at Brown Alley from 10:00 PM. Amongst nearly a dozen local support acts are Louis McCoy and a live performance from Oblique Industries. On the following night, the Sydney gig will be held at Chinese Laundry, where doors will open at 9:00 PM.
