- Shitkatapult will release the experimental techno veteran's next album in June.
Cristian Vogel has finished work on his next album, The Inertials.
Vogel has occupied the experimental side of techno for more than two decades. After cutting his teeth in the late '80s with a group known as the Cabbage Head Collective, he carved a niche for himself with releases on now-classic labels like Tresor, Novamute and Mille Plateux, both on his own and in a string of collaborative projects, most notably Super_Collider with Jamie Lidell. He's remained active ever since, steadily releasing solo albums, playing guitar and singing in his band Night Of The Brain and producing scores for contemporary dance pieces by the Swiss choreographer Gilles Jobin.
The Inertials will be Vogel's first release on the Berlin label Shitkatapult. It shows him using a mostly industrial-inspired palette and crafting a variety of lurching rhythms that occasionally hint at dub and bass music. The album will be available digitally and on CD.
