Chicago-based producer and MC Jeremiah Jae will release his first album, Raw Money Raps, this July on Brainfeeder.
As Danna Hawley found out in her Breaking Through feature on him last year, Jeremiah Jae has a left-field approach to hip-hop. His beats tend to be loose and trippy, and his rhyming has a mumbled, off-the-cuff quality to it ("I try to do it like a trumpeter playing a solo," he once explained). This often goes hand in hand with his odd, self-produced music videos. Flying Lotus first heard of him a few years ago when Samiyam sent him one of his first mixtapes, Lunch Special Pt. 1. Commenting on the upcoming album, the Brainfeeder boss said: "This album has a complex dedication and honesty that I search for in myself with my own art." The album will be one of Jeremiah Jae's first official releases.
