  • Keith Fullerton Whitman will release Occlusions on June 26th. The Somerville, Massachusetts artist has a long history of releasing experimental electronic music on labels like Kranky, Carpark, Digitalis and PAN, and will release his latest effort on Peter Rehberg's Editions Mego. The imprint released his Generators album earlier this year, his only other 2012 release aside from a split 12-inch on NNA Tapes. Occlusions features two lengthy tracks split across each side of an LP, recorded live at two festivals in Europe in February. Each piece is fully improvised and "performed without the aid or consent of pre-recorded or even pre-arranged materials of any kind," and apparently "every effort has been made to avoid divisible rhythms." Whitman claims the piece as a "free jazz" counterpart to Generators more minimalist bent, though insists it is still "dance music" in some regard. The album will be released on vinyl only. Tracklist 01. Occlusion (Rue de Bitche) 02. Occlusion (Weteringschans) Editions Mego will release Occlusions on June 26th, 2012.
