The Metro’s licensing hours were slashed last night by the Sydney City Council at the last minute to put a dampner on what was meant to be a night of Celebration for Fuzzy’s 5th Birthday [resident event review]. Fuzzy didn’t find out until Friday afternoon and did all they could to try and have the decision reversed. Fuzzy compensated the punters who arrived by giving them $20 back + a drinks voucher. In a bid to let the people continue their night after leaving at 3:00am Fuzzy arranged for people who had attended the metro that night to have free entry into Gas, Globe or kinkidisco@home. Hopefully this will be lifted soon as it would be a huge blow to the Sydney dance scene, which is already running low on top class venues to hold events. Losing the full capacity of one of its best venues, especially after it has just opened their new room would be a disaster.
There is much speculation as to why it had to be closed down early, ranging from air-condition regulations not being meet or another act in the Sydney police’s ‘drug war’ against clubs.
