Area 12, located five minutes from the O2 complex in Greenwich, will now host the event, with the afterparty taking place at Proud2.
After losing their previous venue, Clapham Common, last month, Eastern Electrics Festival has now announced Area 12 in Greenwich as its new home for August 4th.
The venue switch is due to the cancellation of the Pride House series of festivals on Clapham Common, which were scheduled to take place during the Olympics, as reported last month. Less than three weeks after the news, Eastern Electrics has now announced details of its new venue, Area 12, located five minutes from the O2 complex and North Greenwich tube station. One of the key points to note about the switch is a reduction in the capacity of the festival due to restrictions put in place by the Olympics—17,000 down to 10,000. Eastern Electrics has already sold 8000 tickets, with approximately 2000 still remaining. The promoters and artists involved with the event, as well as the running hours (11:00 AM until 10:30 PM) will remained unchanged.
A selection of details regarding the new site have also been unveiled. Area 12 will feature a main stage and four tents, with a "huge" man-made structure built from shipping containers at the core of the site. There'll also be a VIP area with views over the main area and bar, food and "luxury" toilet facilities. Existing ticket holders will be have the option to purchase an upgraded ticket, and will be contacted via email in the next few days, while regular VIP tickets are available via the link below.
If the event's almost 12 hour duration isn't quite enough for you, there'll also be an afterparty, EE+, to contend with. Proud2 (formerly matter, located in the O2 complex) will be hosting sets from Art Department, Tale Of Us, Thugfucker and Mosca, with many more artists still to be announced.
General admission tickets and VIP tickets for the festival are available to purchase via RA.
