- A new full-length on Caravan looks back on the Bristol-based duo's early recordings.
Bristol-based duo Emptyset have put together a collection of their early works, entitled Trace: 2005-2009.
Emptyset is Paul Purgas and James Ginzburg, or Ginz, one of the main forces behind the Bristol studio and umbrella label Multiverse. Over the past few years they've forged a sound that blends elements of bass music, drone and experimental techno, but Traces shows a different sensibility: here the harsh frequencies and lurching rhythms are traded for sleek and club-friendly 4/4 beats. All of the tracks are previously released, mostly on the duo's first string of EPs. The collection will come out on Caravan, one of the numerous labels associated with Multiverse.
