  • Scottish techno producer Alex Menzies, known to most as Alex Smoke, will return to Australia to play four shows this July. Menzies has become somewhat of a staple on the Australian circuit, with this being his seventh trip out in as many years. The Hum+Haw boss has had a varied and prolific career thus far, from producing esteemed techno records and touring the world, both as a DJ and live performer, to composing orchestral works and, in 2011, a film score. He has kept relatively quiet on the production front since his last tour down south, although his fourth studio album, Wraetlic, is due for release in September this year. The vocal-oriented project ties in with a new audio-visual live show which Menzies debuted in Japan earlier this month. The tour, a mixture of live and DJ sets, kicks off in Perth on July 4th where the Scot will be hosted by Habitat at Geisha. From there he'll head to Melbourne on July 13th for a show at Brown Alley with the Text Book Music live outfit in support. The following evening he'll be performing live at Sydney's One22 alongside locals Trinity, Glitch and Jay Smalls, with the final show being Cuckoo Bar in Adelaide on the 21st. Tickets to the Sydney party can be picked up here on RA.
