- The Macro boss will release his fifth album in September.
Stefan Goldmann will release his next solo album, 17:50, on September 24th.
Goldmann has certainly had a busy few years, releasing cassettes on the Tapeworm label, a number of EPs on various labels (including the Macro imprint that he runs with Finn Johannsen), as well as last year's Macrospective, a mix CD profiling the history of his label. In addition to running Macro, Goldmann is a well-known DJ and also a writer, having contributed to websites such as Little White Earbuds and writing a column for the bi-monthly Berghain flyer. Following on from the release of this month's Parameter documentary is 17:50, Goldmann's fifth solo album.
17:50 is centered around alternative pitch systems, which a press release describes as "the whole Western harmonic standard [being] thrown overboard." Every musical note on 17:50 is pitch-shifted or bent, heavily influenced by eastern European music and Goldmann's own Bulgarian heritage, and the album was constructed "from scratch" using only analogue gear. A few of the tracks, "Adem" and "Rigid Chain" (in a "dub mix"), were released earlier this year on Goldmann's Adem EP, though the rest of the tracks are previously unreleased.
