  • This Saturday, UK stalwart Ben Sims will head stateside for one night only to play a Basic party in New York. Sims is a prolific DJ and producer with two decades of experience and some 60 releases to his name, including last year's Smoke & Mirrors LP on Drumcode, his first proper full length. That said, much of his hard-hitting techno has been released through the two labels he's managed since the late '90s, Theory and Hardgroove. While he plays regularly across Europe at top clubs like fabric and Berghain, gigs in the US have always been relatively rare for Sims. In New York he'll link up once again with Basic, who hosted his 2010 appearance at Sullivan Room. This time he'll play an extended set at a "private loft space" (you'll have to RSVP via email to find out where) with support coming from residents Sleepy & Boo and others. Tickets to the party are available here on RA.
