  • Japanese DJ, producer and label owner Kenji Takimi will play his first Australian gigs this September. Takimi has been a known figure in the Japanese scene as well as overseas since the early '90s, when his Crue-L Records imprint was established. With an often obscure approach to disco and house music, the label has covered a vast amount of ground, releasing collaborations with veterans like DJ Harvey and Theo Parrish, pioneering artists like Cornelius and Buffalo Daughter, and housing large amounts of Takimi's own projects, particularly the Crue-L Grand Orchestra. His DJing is reflective of the imprint's stylistic expansiveness, and his passion as a collector and programming abilities have earned him a great deal of respect by performers and listeners alike. Most recently he has released records as Boring Beings and ML Booster, while he also continues to produce under his older aliases. Takimi's Australian debut begins on September 15th in Melbourne, with Bamboo Musik and Noise In My Head teaming up to present the show at The Mercat Basement. Adelaide's Sugar will be the next destination on September 20th, followed by an Adult Disco party at Goodgod Small Club in Sydney with the Future Classic DJs in support. Tickets to the Melbourne and Sydney shows can be purchased here on RA.
