  • This October, Minimal Wave will release The Potato Farm Tapes, a collection of early recordings from Canadian electronic singer-songwriter Tony Ohama. Ohama has been something of a staple for Minimal Wave, appearing on 2007's The Found Tapes compilation and both volumes of The Minimal Wave Tapes, issued in conjunction with Stones Throw. This is his first solo collection since a run of cult-classic synth-pop releases in the mid-'80s. Pairing lyrics about the dangers of an increasingly technological society with an electronic backing of early drum machines and found sounds recorded on reel-to-reel tape, the record reflects both the isolation and complexity of the studio, underneath his parents' potato farm in Alberta, where Ohama recorded this material. Limited to 999 copies pressed to 180-gram clear red vinyl, The Potato Farm Tapes also features an extended interview with Ohama in the liner notes. Tracklist 01. The Drum 02. T.V. 03. My Time 04. Of Whales 05. Mushin No Shin 06. Midnite News III 07. Sometimes 08. Julie Is A T.V. Set Minimal Wave will release The Potato Farm Tapes in early October.
