The duo will release their first collaborative LP this November on Software, a sub-label of Mexican Summer.
Tim Hecker has teamed up with Brooklyn-based experimental artist Daniel Lopatin, better known as Oneohtrix Point Never, for a collaborative album due out in November.
Entitled Instrumental Tourist, the LP will come out on Software Records, a sub-label of Mexican Summer that Lopatin curates, and will be the first in a series of collaborations called SSTUDIOS (Software Studio Series). According to a press release, it shows both artists using jazz-inspired styles of improvisation while drawing from source material based on "the acoustic resonance of digitally-sourced 'Instruments of the World.'" The duo are scheduled to premiere the material a few weeks before the release date at this year's Unsound Festival in Poland. Instrumental Tourist will be available on CD and as a limited edition LP.
