  • Marcel Fengler will headline a night in Vancouver on October 13th. Fengler has been a resident at Berlin's Berghain nightclub since it opened. He's known as one of the club's more adventurous DJs, describing his own unpredictable sets (with plenty of twists and turns) as "snaking." In addition to mixing a well-received RA podcast back in 2010, last year saw Fengler biggest moment yet with his Berghain 05 mix CD which RA's Ryan Keeling praised for its stunning diversity but careful coherence. Fengler is also an accomplished producer, with releases on Mote-Evolver and Ostgut-Ton showing off a forceful but melodic take on modern techno. He also recently started up his own label, called Index Marcel Fengler (IMF). The Berlin DJ doesn't make it across the pond very often, with only scattered US appearances over the past few years. The Vancouver show will be his Canadian debut, and the only date in Canada and the US scheduled for this autumn. The party will take place at Open Studios, the usual home for Subversive, a local techno crew who have brought in names like Function and Peter Van Hoesen in the past. Support will come from Subversive crew DJs Miss Myte, Fox, and Phillips.
