  • Adam X will headline the first edition of a new event series called Local Authority at Rhythm Factory in London on October 6th. "As the catatonic London scene continues to freeze over, a light must break through the ice," say the organizers in their promotional text, which reads a bit like a manifesto. That light will come in the form of a series programmed with little or no concern for dance floor compatibility, opting instead for events that aim "to create an overall narrative, to draw the lines between genres and ideas." The first edition will connect the dots between industrial, noise music and techno. Aside from Adam X (also known as Traversable Wormhole or, in the case of his latest LP, ADMX-71), the bill includes Bill Kouligas of Berlin's PAN label and ultra-deep techno artist DJ Skirt. UK leftfield institution Mordant Music is represented by Ekoplekz, Vindicatrix, Powell and Malaise. The event will feature visual art by Zeke Clough, the artist behind iconic sleeve designs for Mordant Music and Skull Disco. A free exhibition of his work will open at 7:00 PM, two hours before the music starts. Tickets to Local Authority with Adam X are available here on RA.
