  • Huntleys + Palmers have booked Dan Snaith for an all night set as Daphni next Friday at the Bussey Building. Until the past year or two, Snaith's main focus was Caribou, the psychedelic, indie-electronic project that gave us acclaimed albums and EPs like 2010's Swim. He only recently became interested in more club-tailored fare, as he explained in the press notes for his upcoming album: "I've been surprised by the number of transcendent moments that I, sober and in my mid-30s, have had in clubs in the last few years, both as a punter and as a DJ. Against my expectations, there's some magic in it still." Daphni is Snaith's outlet for club-tailored productions, most notably "Ye Ye," which landed in our top 20 from last year. He's also been using the name for his DJ gigs, which have been popping up more and more over the past year or so. Next week's party at Bussey Building will see him manning the decks for a solid eight hours, from when the doors open at 10:00 to when the venue shuts at 6:00 AM. It will celebrate the upcoming release of his first full-length as Daphni, JIAOLONG, which drops the following Monday.
