The local arm of Yahoo! Broadcast Services is providing Rhythm FM with the technology needed for more stable streaming, better audio quality and the capacity to economically webcast to thousands of users, simultaneously. Rhythm FM will be the first Australian radio station distributed on Yahoo! Australia & NZ Music, as well as on the US-based Yahoo! Radio [radio.yahoo.com]. This will potentially expose the station to the four million Australian and New Zealanders who use Yahoo! each month, as well as a vast international audience.
Also working on the project is LIQUID PROTOCOL, a dynamic young company who has already designed sites for the likes of the National Geographic Channel, Siva Pacifica and Vivien’s Model Management. They have taken the basic Rhythm FM website, adapted it and are currently implementing interactive sections to the site.
“We’re working with Rhythm FM to provide them with a strong, scalable, cost effective way to distribute their content 24/7, to internet users from Australia and around the world,” said Craig Galvin, Sales Manager, Yahoo! Broadcast Services Australia. “We’re about helping traditional broadcasters reach an audience in a non-traditional way and now host and serve over 450 stations around the world - so it’s great to have a local Australian offering to add to the mix!”
“This will enable us to reach a much larger audience and will provide our online listeners, whether in the office or at home, with a much better experience,” said Leah Simmons, Marketing Manager of Rhythm FM. “Now anyone, anywhere, at anytime with a PC, an Internet connection and a sound card can enjoy the great sounds pumping from our studios in Sydney and Brisbane!”
