  • Charanjit Singh will play his first European shows this November in Copenhagen and Sweden. The Indian producer made waves two years ago with the reissue of his album Synthesizing: 10 Ragas To A Disco Beat, a collection of Indian ragas he recorded with drum machines and synthesizers back in 1982. The LP's re-release earned him attention among house and techno connoisseurs for its apparently accidental similarity to the dance music genres that would emerge in Chicago and Detroit just a few years later. Though he's been a regular performer in India for decades, the upcoming dates will be his first ever in Europe. Singh will play live at both of the shows, armed with a Roland 303, 808, and Jupiter-8 synth. He's billed with Das Racist member Heems, a producer and MC whose own music blends hip-hop with Bollywood. The duo have recently recorded a collaborative EP, parts of which they'll be performing live together at these concerts. The first will take place at Copenhagen's Teater Grob on November 6 during the city's CPH:DOX multimedia festival. The next evening they'll head to Malmö, Sweden for a show at Mitt Möllan.
