The Japanese artist is currently touring small small rooms around the country.
Satoshi Tomiie is currently taking Popup, a new party and musical aesthetic that's all about small spaces, on a tour through Italy.
The concept is a switch-up for Tomiie, a multi-decade veteran of house music whose sound has typically been pitched at big rooms, not little ones. On this tour, Tomiie will helm the decks for the entire night at each party, mostly playing music he's produced specifically for these small-room sets. So far, Popup has taken Tomiie across Italy, stopping off at intimate clubs like Tag in Venice and Club Vinile 45 in Brescia. The tour is entering its final stage this week and will find Tomiie playing Popup sets at Circolo Degli Illuminati in Rome tomorrow night, Club 999 in Prato on the 8th and Cassero in Bologna on the 9th. A promotional video for the tour gives some idea of the sound and scale Tomiie has been aiming for.
