- A collaboration between Echovolt Records and Red Light Records, the compilation pulls important and hard-to-find works from 1978 and 1991.
Into the Light, a compilation of rare and classic Greek electronic music from 1978 to 1991, is due out next month.
Ilias Pitsios of Echovolt and Red Light Records' Tako Reyenga collaborated on the compilation, which is being released on the newly minted Into the Light Records. As the release notes explain, the collection covers a wide range of styles, from the danceable to the more experimental or somewhere in between. Across the board, though, the artists included were underground figures who are not widely known even within Greece. Some of the artists featured are the composer and pianist Lena Platonos, Italo disco producer 141 G (AKA Costas Charitodiplomenos), film composer Michalis Rakintzis and Vangelis Katsoulis, whose cut "Improvisation" has been described by the curators as "bleepy new age." Into the Light will only be available on vinyl, and the double-LP release is housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring extensive liner notes.
