King Deluxe has released its second compilation.
Run by Peter Krahn in British Columbia, Canada, the netlabel has gathered a repertoire of artists from all over the world. Most of their releases are distributed for free online, though 2012 marked their first vinyl release. The imprint doesn't ascribe to any one particular style, but the music could be described as experimental-leaning bass music, with much of it hinting towards hip-hop and dubstep. Vancouver singer and producer duo Evy Jane, Russian producer Aleph and London-based artist Alphabets Heaven are among some of the roster's more notable names.
Like its title suggests, Year Two celebrates the second full year of operation for King Deluxe, with brand new tracks from label plus remixes of older material. The two-disc compilation features most of the usual suspects, plus relative newcomers A Thousand Years and Almandine, a collaborative project between Evy Jane's Evelyn and fellow BC'er Zoey Ockendon. The collection is currently available on the label's website as a free download.
