Mountains and Derek Plaislaiko are also among the first names announced for the Boulder, Colorado festival this April.
Nicolas Jaar is one of the first names announced for this year's Communikey Festival.
This is the sixth year that Communikey, which describes itself as an "interdisciplinary organization dedicated to social, cultural and ecological innovation through creative process," has brought some of electronic music's leading lights to Boulder, Colorado, over a long weekend in April. While the announcement is still preliminary, Communikey (often shorted to CMKY) already has a number of artists booked for this year's event, which runs from April 25th through 28th. Jaar has been booked to head up a residency for his Clown & Sunset imprint, and he'll be joined at the festival by labelmate Valentin Stip. Thrill Jockey act Mountains have signed on, as has Berlin-based Bunker resident Derek Plaslaiko and Safety Scissors, the long-dormant alias of Matthew Patterson Curry. Demon John, Andrew Weathers and Spoolius Mélange have also been included in this initial lineup.
CMKY has also announced a few of the other events that will be included this year. The festival will be screening all of the films from RA's Real Scenes series. The organizers have also announced that you & me, a series of intimate and interactive performances originating in Denver, will be part of the festival. The festival's website has more about the festival and organization, plus information about tickets.
