  • King Britt will DJ in Portland and Los Angeles in late January. King James Britt is probably best known for the house music he releases under his name, often touched with jazz and hip-hop flourishes and a strong sense of melody. But the veteran—active since the early 90s—also produces slightly more experimental music under aliases like Nova Dream Sequence and Fhloston Paradigm, the latter of which had a release on Hyperdub last year. His first American dates of 2013 will see him come over to the West Coast for two shows. On January 25th at Portland's Someday Lounge, Britt will play a three-hour set. Live performances from local singer and producer Natasha Kmeto and Mr Romo, as well as DJ sets from Michael Grimes and Keane will make up the evening's opening acts. The following night will take Britt to L.A.'s King King Club, where he'll headline a w.C.S. Events deep house party. Bounce Muzik's Tony Powell, West Coast Collective member Torin Rea and w.C.S' Jerry Flores are all billed to open that show.
